The Indian cricket has witnessed some massive changes within the squad since the appointment of Ravi Shastri as the Indian coach. Shastri, whose tenure began after Anil Kumble's ousting post the 2017 Champions Trophy defeat to Pakistan, has formed a strong bond with India captain - Virat Kohli. Virat Kohli and the Indian cricket team's preparation for T20 World Cup

The Indian cricket team has already begun their preparation for next year's T20 World cup to be held in Australia. They enjoyed a successful stint in West indies and have drawn the T20 home series against South Africa. Skipper Virat Kohli and the rest of the Indian management have given a host of youngsters a chance to impress in the series against the Proteas. The likes of Shreyas Iyer, Khaleel Ahmed, Rishabh Pant, Manish Pandey and Navdeep Saini have been given an opportunity in the limited-overs side.

Virat Kohli's opinion on current Indian squad

"There are a lot of T20s and Tests before the T20 World Cup next year, and we are pushing youngsters into the system at every possible chance because it is important to finalize on a system. This also gives you an idea as to who are the players who can take the philosophy of the team forward. The focus is on selecting players that can take the team vision forward and maintain it," Virat Kohli said in an interview shared by BCCI.tv.

MS Dhoni's role in the Indian cricket team remains unclear

Since the end of this year's World Cup in England, MS Dhoni has not been included in the Indian squad. The World Cup-winning captain is rumoured to be on the verge of announcing his retirement from the national setup. Rishabh Pant has so far been the first-choice wicketkeeper in Dhoni's absence. The Delhi youngster has had a poor run so far and is under pressure to retain his spot in the team. It will be interesting to see if this prompts MSD to return to the national team in the upcoming months and how much he is welcomed by both coach and captain. Watch this space for more.
