Kings XI Punjab registered their second win of this season after they beat Mumbai Indians by eight wickets at the I.S. Bindra Stadium on Saturday. Punjab was fighting this cricketing battle after suffering a 28-run defeat at the hands of Kokata Knight Riders on Wednesday. By this victory, Kings XI Punjab has bagged their first home game the season.
However, Kings XI Punjab has one more reason to rejoice. Their explosive opening batsman Chris Gayle has achieved yet another feat in IPL history. The 'Universe Boss' has become the first batsman in IPL history to hit 300 sixes .

Chris Gayle made this record against Mumbai Indians after he clobbered consecutive sixes against Mitchell McClenaghan in the third over of Punjab's run chase. The 39-year-old West Indian opening batsman showed a lot of promise during Kings XI Punjab's run chase of 177. He scored a 24-ball 40 at a strike rate of 166.67 which included three boundaries and four maximums before he was dismissed by Krunal Pandya.
Gayle now has 302 sixes in 114 innings and no other player is even close to him as none have managed to even reach 200 sixes in the tournament's history. Other players to have maximum sixes in IPL include Mr.360 AB de Villiers with 196 sixes followed by the captain of Chennai Super Kings MS Dhoni with 186 maximums. He had also become the fastest batsman to reach 4,000 IPL runs.
After his dismissal the Punjab run chase was anchored by KL Rahul who saw them home with an unbeaten 57-ball 71. Apart from Gayle, he was also supported by Mayank Agarwal who played a cameo of a 21-ball 43.
