Royal Challengers Bangalore are still searching for their opening win of this season as they were handed a fifth straight defeat by Kolkata Knight Riders at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Friday. Even though the result did not go in their favour, there were a lot of things that clicked well for them. One of them was Pawan Negi's outstanding catch at the boundary ropes.

The incident happened in the second over of KKR's run chase. Chasing a target of 206, KKR openers Chris Lynn and makeshift opener Sunil Narine helped KKR get off to a brisk start. They were 28-0 in 1.4 overs. In the fifth ball Navdeep Saini bowled a simple wide delivery. Narine stepped aside and heaved at the ball forcefully. Just when it looked like the ball was going to clear the fine leg fence, Pawan Negi ran some distance and took an outstanding catch to get rid of the dangerous Sunil Narine.

Despite losing Narine, Chris Lynn added 65 runs for the second wicket with Robin Uthappa and steadied KKR's ship.  Lynn scored a quickfire 31-ball 43 at a strike rate of 138.71 before being castled by Negi in the 12th over.Negi also accounted for Robin Uthappa who had played a good knock of a 25-ball 33 to bring RCB back in the game.

However, their hopes of registering a maiden win of this season were washed away when Andre Russell put up a ruthless batting performance. The West Indian all-rounder walked in when KKR needed 67 runs off 26 balls and with the game in RCB's control. He took the bowlers to the cleaners and scored a blistering 13-ball unbeaten 48 as RCB snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. The big Jamaican's innings included just a single boundary and seven maximums.

Earlier even RCB had showcased a good batting display after being put into bat by KKR captain Dinesh Karthik. Skipper Virat Kohli found his form back as he scored a quickfire 49-ball 84. He put on a 64 run opening stand with Parthiv Patel before adding 108 runs for the seconnd wicket with AB de Villiers who scored a 32-ball 63 to take RCB to a huge total of 205/3 in their 20 overs.
