Mumbai Indians batsman Suryakumar Yadav avoided what could have been a major injury during MI's clash against Rajasthan Royals at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium on Saturday. The incident happened in the 12th over of Mumbai's innings which was bowled by Jaydev Unadkat. In the second ball, the left arm medium pacer bowled one outside off stump as Yadav tried to play a sweep shot. However, the ball did not make contact with the bat as it hit Yadav's thigh pad.

Yadav wasted no time and set out for a quick single while Jofra Archer covered some distance to collect the ball and make a run out attempt. Archer collected the ball and threw it accurately. Nonetheless, his aim did missed its mark. Suryakumar Yadav who was looking behind and keeping his eyes on the ball suddenly put in the dive when he saw Archer throw the ball. But, his timing of the dive was not good as he dived to the wrong end (The direction from where the ball was coming) and the ball hit him on his hips.  Yadav was feeling a bit uncomfortable for a while but managed to recover quickly and then resumed batting.

Rajasthan Royals will look to do the double over Mumbai Indians while  Mumbai will also look to avenge their reverse fixture loss and carry on their winning momentum. Rajasthan Royals skipper Steve Smith won the toss and decided to bowl first. They got an early breakthrough as they managed to dismiss Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma. Quinton de Kock then added 98 runs with Suryakumar Yadav. The South African wicket-keeper batsman scored a vital 47-ball 65 at a strike rate of 138.30. However, post the dismissals of  Yadav and de Kock Mumbai lost wickets at regular intervals.

In the end, Hardik Pandya's short cameo of a 15-ball 23 helped Mumbai get to a respectable total of 161/5 in their 20 overs.
