Indian captain Rohit Sharma took a spectacular catch against Sri Lanka in the Super 4 match of the ongoing Asia Cup 2023 on Tuesday. Rohit Sharma, fielding at slip, displayed exceptional reflexes and secured the catch while diving to his right. Sri Lankan skipper Dasun Shanaka became the victim for his brilliant effort in the 26th over of the second innings as they were trying to chase down a target of 214 runs set by India.

The delivery that dismissed Shanaka was a tempting one, pitched outside off by Ravindra Jadeja. The ball lured Shanaka into an ill-fated drive, resulting in an edge. Rohit Sharma made no mistake and took an impressive catch to remove his counterpart. Virat Kohli was quick to acknowledge Rohit's brilliance with a congratulatory hug. Kohli was seen running in and hugging Rohit as he was still celebrating the catch. 

The wickets kept falling for the Lankans, with Ravindra Jadeja claiming his first scalp of the match, his 23rd in the history of Asia Cup. With this achievement, Jadeja now holds the record for the highest number of wickets by an Indian in the tournament, surpassing Irfan Pathan's 22 wickets. Sachin Tendulkar and Kuldeep Yadav follow closely with 17 wickets each. Jadeja showcased impressive spin control on a challenging pitch, extracting significant turn and subtle variations.

Earlier in the match, India had won the toss and chosen to bat first. Despite a promising start, the Indian batting lineup crumbled to spin, primarily due to the combined efforts of Dunith Wellalage and part-time spinner Charith Asalanka, who together claimed nine wickets. India were bundled up for 213 in 49.1 overs. Rohit Sharma once again stood out with the bat as he smashed a quickfire half-century.
