Though cricket was born in England, nowadays India has become the new home of the gentleman's game. The country, which is known for its hospitality, hosts one of the biggest T20 leagues in the world, the Indian Premier League. Several big names from international cricket come to India and play in the IPL. One such name is Australian cricketer Marcus Stoinis, who plays for the Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian Premier League.

IPL experience to help Marcus Stoinis in the ODI World Cup 

Australia cricket team all-rounder Marcus Stoinis in a conversation with RevSportz, termed India as his second home. Stoinis has played for IPL teams like RCB and LSG and also won many matches with his all-round performance. Stoinis will be a valuable asset for India in the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023. Marcus Stoinis said: 

Yes, I am now going into my ninth season of the IPL next year. A lot of the other players like Dave Warner, Maxi [Glenn Maxwell], Adam Zampa, Josh Hazlewood, Pat Cummins and, now, Cameron Green all play the IPL, and it makes a massive difference. We have a very clear idea of the conditions, and what are the kind of pitches that we might encounter during the World Cup.

We also know the angles in each ground, the dimensions of boundaries, where to play our shots et cetera. These things make a huge difference in a high-pressure tournament like the World Cup.

Marcus Stoinis opens up on Australia's fan base in India 

Further speaking in the conversation, Marcus Stoinis opened up on the increasing Australian fan base in India. Stoinis feels that Aussie players such as David Warner have a powerful fan base in India, and people love watching him play. Marcus Stoinis said: 

Absolutely, and a lot of us now consider India as our second home. If I speak for myself, I can tell you I just love the kind of fan passion in India. In Australia as well, we have big crowds coming to the cricket, but the kind of fan passion that I see in India is clearly unique. It can’t be replicated, and there is a tremendous amount of respect the fans have for the players. 

Take someone like Dave Warner. He has a cult following in India. The presence of these fans, who are sometimes really loud and you can’t hear a thing in the middle, adds to the occasion and makes the World Cup a very special tournament.

The Australian cricket team will tour India ahead of the ODI World Cup 2023, in the last week of September, and also start their campaign against the hosts on October 8, 2023, at the premier ICC event.
