Siraj's brilliance with the ball

Mohammed Siraj rattled the Sri Lankan line-up, returning with the figures of 6/21 in just seven overs. After Siraj's brilliance, Hardik Pandya cleaned up Sri Lanka as India bundled out the co-hosts for 50. In reply, Shubman Gill, along with his new opening partner Ishan Kishan, sealed the Men in Blue's victory in 6.1 overs.

Pandya - India's main weapon?

“He (Hardik Pandya) is their main weapon in the upcoming World Cup and India are one of the favourite teams to win it. For starters, they are playing at home and we have seen what they can do with the ball,” Akram said on Star Sports.

“Kuldeep got wickets as well against the big sides in the Asia Cup. So, it’s a complete side. So, well done to the Indian think tank, which has been supporting these boys and making sure that they have the proper squad before the World Cup.”

Hardik Pandya played a crucial knock of 87 runs during India's group-stage match against Pakistan. Although the game was abandoned, Pandya's innings helped India over their top-order collapse before rain had the final say. Pandya finished the Asia Cup 2023 with 92 runs at an average of 46 and a strike rate of 85.18. He also took a total of six wickets at 3.34.
