Jasprit Bumrah closing in on Team India comeback? Here’s all we know so far
Team India skipper Rohit Sharma revealed key details about Jasprit Bumrah while speaking to reporters at the pre-match presser. Although he provided an update on Bumrah, he couldn’t guarantee whether the 29-year-old will make his comeback during the upcoming tour of Ireland. However, he hoped Bumrah gets enough match time ahead of ICC ODI World Cup 2023 to get his groove back.
“The amount of experience he (Bumrah) brings is very important. Right now he's coming from a serious injury and I've no idea if he'll travel to Ireland because the team hasn't been announced yet. If he gets to play then it's good and we hope he plays before the World Cup. When a player returns from a serious injury, match fitness, match feeling are some key components, which are missing. We'll see what has been planned and everything depends on his recovery. We are in constant touch with the NCA and things look positive at the moment,” Rohit Sharma said.

Jasprit Bumrah's injury and what followed next
Jasprit Bumrah started struggling with an injury ahead of the Asia Cup 2022 and eventually pulled out the tournament. He then appeared for a few matches during the home series against South Africa, before getting ruled out. He then missed the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia, but was added to the squad for the ODI series against Sri Lanka in January.
As he yet again pulled out due to back issues, the 29-year-old also ruled out of the Indian Premier League 2023 and the ICC World Test Championship 2023 final. While there is no official word from the BCCI about Bumrah’s potential return, he has dropped hints of making a comeback by sharing videos of himself bowling at the nets. Meanwhile, it is also being speculated that Bumrah could travel to Ireland for the T20I series in August.
