World Cup 2019: Rohit Sharma managed a feat that even Don Bradman couldn’t accomplish; here are some of ‘Hitman’s major achievements after fifth century in the tournament

Records went on a tumbling spree as Rohit Sharma continued his unbelievable run in the World Cup 2019, to notch up his third century in a row, fifth in the tournament and his 27th overall. Not just breaking records, the 32-year-old also emulated some major feats that make his achievements legendary as well during the course of his knock of 103 off 94 balls against Sri Lanka.

Here are some of the major accomplishments of Rohit Sharma’s knock: 

• He became the first batsman in history to score 5 centuries in the same World Cup beating Kumar Sangakkara’s tally of 4 in the 2015 World Cup. 
• He also became the joint-highest century scorer (1 in 2015 WC) in the history of World Cups, emulating the great Sachin Tendulkar, who has also scored 6 tons.  
• The swashbuckling opener also became the first in the history of the game after Sir Clyde Walcott in 1955 to score 5 centuries in one series. The  West Indian had done so in a Test series against Australia. Even the greatest of all time, Sir Don Bradman could only score 4 in a series in 1930. 
• He also became the first to score three centuries while chasing in the World Cup.

Sharma started attacking right from the word 'Go'. He was also well supported by his opening partner Rahul. Rohit played a fiery knock by hitting the ball to all areas of the ground. He brought up his 27th ODI ton in the process. However, he could not last for too long as he was caught by Angelo Mathews at mid-off off Kasun Rajitha. The Hitman scored a 94-ball 103 at a strike rate of 109.57 which included 14 boundaries and two maximums.
