Ex-Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp is of the opinion that Manchester United and Arsenal won't finish in the top 4 and secure the Champions League berth this season. He said that both the teams have fallen behind which has made it very difficult for them to qualify for the premier club competition. Both the Red Devils and Gunners missed out on qualifying for the Champions League last season and finishing at the 5th and the 6th position and have witnessed a difficult start to their current Premier League campaign. He also said that unless and until there was a big improvement in both the team's performance, seeing them in the top 4 will be a very difficult task.
'Tottenham have to fire everything they have got'
While talking to a local media outlet, Redknapp stated that since Tottenham is currently at the 14th position in the league, the only thing favoring them is Arsenal's poor run in the league as Frank Lampard's Chelsea and Brendan Rodgers Leicester City will fight it out for the 3rd and the 4th position which also the final Champions League berths for the next edition of the tournament.
He added that it was a disappointing season for Potecchino and his men as he really thought that the team would be challenging Liverpool and Manchester City this season. Redknapp further added that the players have not hit the same form as last year and hoped that the team could turn around for the better as he was an admirer of Mauricio Pottechino.
Harry Redknapp stated that Dele Alli could be driving force that could propel Tottenham into the top four or bring them back in contention for a top-four finish despite the criticism he has been subject to this season. Harry said that if Alli could get back to what he was before then it could be a major boost for the misfiring Tottenham.
Tottenham's dire form in the Premier League has seen them win 3, draw 5 and lose 4 of the 12 matches they have played so far. With the pressure increasing on Mauricio, Tottenham has to step up their game, if they have to qualify for the Champions League.
An uphill task for Manchester United and Arsenal
Manchester United has an uphill task ahead of them as they are currently placed at the 7th position and if they are to qualify for the Champions League, the Red Devils need to cut the deficit between them and 4th placed Manchester City by winning a maximum number of matches in the league. United can expect to cut the deficit between them and City to 6 points if they beat 5th placed Sheffield United on November 24 at Bramall Lane and if City loses to 3rd placed Chelsea on November 23 at the Etihad Stadium.
Arsenal can aim to cut the deficit to 5 points against 4th placed Manchester CIty if they defeat Norwich City on December 1 in a league match to be played at the Carrow Road stadium.
