Premier League footballers Mesut Ozil and Sead Kolasinac escaped a carjacking bid at Latts Lane, near Golders Green, London on 25 July. The Arsenal footballers were stopped on the way following which full-back Sead Kosinac is seen fighting back with his hands.
What happened?
Mesut Ozil and Sead Kosinac were traveling on Latts Lane near Golden Green when the carjacking bid was plotted. CCTV footage of the incident shows Sead Kosinac foiling the attempt by fighting back with his bare hands. He is seen getting out of the car and single-handedly fought off the attackers who were at both the front and back of the vehicle, brandishing knives at the star footballers. The club confirmed the incident and said in a statement: "We have been in contact with both players and they are fine", according to media reports.
Not the first time
Sead Kolasinac and midfielder Mesut Özil are not the first London-based footballers to be targeted on the road. In 2016, then West Ham striker Andy Carroll was threatened at gunpoint on his way home from training.
Arsenal on a high
The Premier League giants are on a winning trot after beating Italy's Fiorentina by 3-0 and Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich by 2-1, increasing the expectations of the club. Most of the Premier League clubs are playing friendlies or are a part of the International Champions Cup. Arsenal's recent victories have laid a good foundation for the side to have a good season ahead. The Gunners will look to carry over their winning trot into the Premier League as they will once again attempt to grab a place in the top four spots on the tournament table.
