Former Arsenal Manager Arsene Wenger refused to rule out the speculation of taking over the manager's role at German club Bayern Munich amid rumors linking him to the vacant manager's job at one of the most successful clubs in the Bundesliga. According to reports, the Frenchman has emerged at the pole position after Bayern sacked Niko Kovac after the team's 5-1 loss to Eintracht on November 2 in a league match that was played at the Commerzbank-Arena.
Arsene Wenger to Bayern Munich?
With Paris Saint-German manager Thomas Tuchel and Ajax manager Erik ten Hag not interested to take up the job, Wenger has not become one of the favorites to steer the club. Former Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho, and former Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri have also been linked to the job.
'Coaching is my life'
While talking to an international media outlet, Wenger said that he would certainly be interested in taking up the challenge as coaching was his life. He added that there are a few things that people miss and don't miss but things such as managing football games, winning them, preparing the team for the task ahead and getting that feeling of being on the field again is something that everybody cherishes and it is something that one misses.
On November 5, Bayern Munich's President Uli Hoeness, stated that he will most probably announce the next manager by the club's next away game at Fortuna Duesseldorf on November 23.
Former Germany assistant coach, Hansi Flick, has taken over as Bayern Munich's temporary manager for the club's Champions League match at Allianz Arena against Olympiakos on November 6 and their league match against Borussia Dortmund on November 9 at the Allianz Arena.
Currently, Bayern Munich is at the 4th position in the Bundesliga with a gap of 4 points against league leaders, Monchengladbach. Munich has won 5, drawn 3 and lost 2 matches out of the 10 matches they have played so far.
Wenger's illustrious career
Arsene Wenger has formerly managed Premier League club Arsenal for a period of 22 years from 1996 to 2018 where he became the Gooner's most successful manager. The French manager won 3 Premier League titles, seven FA cups and seven community shields in his time at Arsenal. He also surpassed George Allison's record of managing Arsenal for 13 years in October 2009.
