Cristiano Ronaldo: The superstar's 4 memorable Real Madrid moments
Cristiano Ronaldo arrived as one of the most promising talents in the football world. He has done wonders ever since to help the club reach a different level.
Cristiano Ronaldo reached the 700-goal landmark after he scored from the spot against Ukraine yesterday. He is only the sixth player in the history of football to reach the milestone. Ronaldo has scored 450 goals for Real Madrid out of the big 700. Let's have a look at Ronaldo's four historic moments at Real Madrid before he left for Juventus.
Ronaldo's Top Four Best Moments for Real Madrid
1. Overhead kick against Juventus
Ronaldo is the leading goalscorer in the Champions League with 127 goals to his name. He has scored with his left leg, right leg, head and even chest but none of them can match the standards of his 119th Champions League goal. The stage was all set for the superstar in Turin in the quarter-final match between Real Madrid and his current club Juventus. Ronaldo was feeling the heat from the Italian's supporters as they were constantly booing him ironically whenever the ball touched his feet. However, Cristiano reversed the situation after he stunned the crowd with an overhead kick which left Gianluigi Buffon helpless. Ronaldo rushed towards the crowd to silence them down but to everyone's surprise, the Juventus supporters were on their feet to appreciate the star's athletic effort.
2. Fifth Ballon d'Or
World football changed when Lionel Messi finally had a competitor in Cristiano Ronaldo. The then United star kid had just one Ballon D’Or at a time when Messi won his fourth in 2012. Ronaldo then came back astonishingly from three awards down to equal Messi's figures. He won the big award in 2013, 2014, 2016 and 2017 to make it 5-5. While he was on his way to win for the fifth time, Ronaldo carried Madrid to their 12th Champions League title and their first La Liga triumph since 2012 in the same season. He had a great season as CR7 scored 42 goals for the Los Blancos in all competitions which also includes Portugal's Euro 2016 win.
3. Copa del Rey winner vs Barcelona in 2011
Real Madrid were struggling to get a hold of the Copa Del Rey trophy for 18 years till they met their arch-rivals Barcelona in the 2011 finals. Ronaldo was being constantly criticized for not showing up in crucial matches when Real Madrid expected him to be. But the star broke the deadlock against Barcelona after he leapt high to beat the likes of Pique and Mascherano to score the winner for the Los Blancos in the first half of the extra-time. It was a moment to cherish for the club as well for the star.
4. Goal vs Malmo
Cristiano Ronaldo found the net against Malmo off Lucas Vazquez's assist. It was just another day for the No.7 at the field but the goal was special because Ronaldo surpassed Raul's tally to become the all-time record goalscorer for Real Madrid. Ronaldo reached a landmark that day after slotting his 323rd goal for the Los Blancos and got into the history books of the club as the greatest ever.
