Dedryck Boyata inadvertently wears wrong No. 23 shirt as Belgium beat Russia

Belgium defender Dedryck Boyata wore wrong jersey with number 23 on the back, during Belgium's clash against Russia. Number 23 officially belongs to Batshuayi.

Belgium defender Dedryck Boyata surprised the team’s fans when he came out wearing a different jersey. He wore the No.23 jersey in their Euro 2020 Qualifier match against Russia. It was Chelsea’s Mitchy Batshuayi, who has been designated the number 23 jersey by the Belgian national team.

Boyata played the first half wearing the wrong jersey

Boyata played since the start of the match alongside Toby Alderweireld and Thomas Vermaelen in defence. The Hertha Berlin defender played the complete first half with the wrong shirt on and then later switched into the correct No.4 shirt for the second half. Boyata, however, did have the correct shorts on, with the Number 4 printed on them.

The 'Red Devils' continued their perfect run in Group I with a convincing 4-1 win over Russia. Thorgan Hazard opened the scoring for Belgium, followed by two first-half goals from his elder brother and Real Madrid star Eden Hazard. Romelu Lukaku then sealed the win for his side, when he scored in the 72nd minute. Batshuayi was brought into the game, when he replaced Lukaku in the 77nd minute, with the Chelsea man wearing his number 23 jersey.

Belgium have won all of their nine Euro qualifier matches, maintaining a perfect record. They have conceded just twice in their qualification campaign. The Red Devils have secured their spot in the tournament, which will be played across major European cities.
