Durand Cup 2023: Vicky Kaushal promotes Asia’s most prestigious tournament
The 132nd edition of Asia's oldest football event, the Durand Cup is bigger and grander this year. The prestigious tournament is set to start this Thursday.

The Bangladesh Army Football Team will go head-to-head against the mighty Mohun Bagan Super Giant in the opening match of the 132nd edition of the Durand Cup, which will begin in Kolkata on Thursday, August 3rd, 2023. This latest edition of Asia's oldest football tournament will include 24 teams and will take place in places like Guwahati, Kokrajhar, and Kolkata. The 2023 championship game will take place on September 3 at the venerable Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan.

Vicky Kaushal promotes Asia’s most prestigious tournament
The Durand Cup theme song will include renowned actor Vicky Kaushal. On the eve of the start of the world's third-oldest football event, they will release the theme song. This season, two foreign teams from Bangladesh and Nepal will also be a part of the tournament alongside the Indian clubs. On August 12th, the Kolkata Derby, aka the pinnacle of Indian football, will take place between the Mohun Bagan Super Giants and East Bengal FC.
In a video posted by Durand Cup and Sony Sports Network, the famed Bollywood actor was seen promoting the tournament. The actor claimed the Cup to be an emotion and pure passion for the 142 crore people of India. He said that the tournament is in the hearts of the Indian armed forces and has the best players and clubs. 24 teams are participating in this year's edition of the prestigious tournament, which includes ISL's 12 top teams. The famous actor is thrilled and passionate about the oldest tournament in India.

What are the six groups of the Durand Cup 2023?

Three groups A, B, and C will be played over four sites in Kolkata, while the majority of Group D and E matches will be held at Guwahati's Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium. Kokrajhar, the newest Durand Cup host city, will host all Group F matches and a Group D and E game apiece. Guwahati and Kokrajhar will each host one quarter-final match. The remaining knockout rounds will be hosted in Kolkata.
