The sixth match week of the Premier League was a roller coaster ride for EPL fans. In the blockbuster game of the weekend, Liverpool defeated Chelsea 1-2 at Stamford Bridge. The most lopsided result of the weekend came at the Etihad Stadium as Pep Guardiola’s side hammered Watford 8 - 0.
Meanwhile, West Ham United shocked Manchester United at London Stadium 2-0. Arsenal, on the other hand, came from behind to beat Aston Villa 3 - 2 despite being down to 10 men for more than half of the match. Leicester City edged past Tottenham 2-1 to move into the top 4. Here is a list of top performers for this week:
De Bruyne
Pep Guardiola's team selections are impossible to predict. In Manchester City’s 2-3 loss against Norwich City last week, De Bruyne was left on the bench. He seemed desperate to be involved from the start against Watford. His performance deserved a goal and netted the best one of the lot. A rasping right-footed drive that rocketed into the net leaving Watford goalkeeper Ben Foster with no chance. He has also had two assists to round up a brilliant individual display.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
The Arsenal forward played a significant role in Arsenal’s 3-2 win against Aston Villa. He scored the match-winning goal for the 10-man Gunners six minutes from the end. Nicolas Pepe converted a penalty in the 59th minute before Calum Chambers scored in the 81st minute to equalise the score 2-2. For Aston Villa, John McGinn and Wesley Moraes scored in the 20th and 60th minute respectively.
Roberto Firminio
The Brazil International created a lot of chances in the match and managed to score the second goal for Liverpool in the 30th minute. Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga was forced to make some good saves to deny Firmino from increasing his tally. Alexander Arnold scored the opening goal for the Reds in the 14th minute. N'Golo Kante pulled one back for Chelsea but they couldn't find an equalizer which would have earned them a well deserved point.
