It was an eventful Monday for European footballing nations as they embarked on their journey to secure a spot at the UEFA Euro 2020 finals which will be held across 12 nations next year. After Belgium, Russia and Italy, Ukraine also secured their spot at the quadrennial showpiece to be played next year with a 2-1 win over Portugal. There were a number of events that defined the recent UEFA Euro 2020 qualifiers, ranging from England's 6-0 hammering of Bulgaria which was marred by racist chants to Cristiano Ronaldo's landmark 700th career goal. England slam six goals past Bulgaria
The Three Lions bounced back from a drab outing against the Czech Republic with an emphatic 0-6 win against Bulgaria on Monday night. Marcus Rashford opened the scoring with a sublime effort in the 7th minute followed by two goals from Chelsea midfielder - Ross Barkley. Raheem Sterling added two more before Harry Kane scored at the death as England bagged all three points away from home. However, the match had to to be stopped on two occasions due to racist chants from certain sections in the crowd. Portugal star - Cristiano Ronaldo - bagged a goal as Ukraine defeated the European giants at the Kyiv National Stadium on Monday night. The iconic Juventus forward became the sixth-highest goalscorer as he crossed the 700-goal landmark, trailing behind the likes of Gerd Muller and Ferenc Puskas. Turkey pulled off a strong comeback to rescue a point against FIFA 2018 World Cup winners France at the Stade de France on Monday night. After Olivier Giroud scored the opening goal, second-half Turkish substitute Kaan Ayhan equalised for the winners in stunning fashion in 81st minute. In doing so, Turkey secured their position at the top of Group H in the ongoing UEFA Euro 2020 qualifiers having won six of their eight matches thus far.
