Gary Neville says it is painful to admit 'respect' for Liverpool

Former Manchester United skipper and right back, Gary Neville, confessed that he had respect for the current Liverpool team and their manager Jurgen Klopp, who he has compared to Sir Alex Ferguson's title-winning team that he was a part of during his playing career. Neville, who was a part of the Red Devils famous class of 92 that had the likes of Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs, David Beckham, etc, spent his entire career at the Theatre of Dreams and went on to win a total of 8 league titles under Sir Alex Ferguson.

Painful to admit 'respect' for Liverpool

While talking to a local media outlet, Gary said that it was painful for him to admit that the current Liverpool team had a lot of qualities of Manchester United's team he was a part of and added that it was an awful feeling to see Liverpool so successful. He added that having to watch Liverpool win games towards the end of their matches, trying to win back the ball every time they lost possession, doing everything a football teams need to do, is awful to notice and watch but they need to be given their due respect as Jurgen Klopp has a good bunch of players with great values and ethics.

A complete puzzle

Former United manager, Jose Mourinho, called Klopp's team as a complete puzzle after their 3-1 win over Manchester City at Anfield in a Premier League match. Mourinho said that if a team is behind in the league then they have to play like it is possible to reach the summit and the team which is at the top of the league then they have to play like the competition is still not over.

Jose was of the opinion that with Liverpool's win over City, the league was theirs unless and until something dramatic did not happen such as a serious injury situation. He also said that Guardiola's City is very strong competitors but did not find any reason as to why Liverpool would let go of their 8 point advantage that may win them the Premier League for the first time since 1990.

Liverpool's win took them 18 points clear of 7th placed Manchester United. The Red Devils have repeatedly endured difficult times since Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement and have been left fighting to even qualify for the Champions League.
