47-year old businessman Glenn Tamplin bought Billericay Town in December 2016 and made some heavy investments to change the club’s structure which took the non-league world by storm. Glenn went on to bring some renowned players with Premier League experience such as Jamie O’Hara, Jermaine Pennant and Paul Konchesky. Tamplin claimed to have invested almost £3million in Billericay. He took out bridging loans to keep paying the £30,000-a-week wage bill.
Glenn Tamplin also became the club’s manager, won a treble and qualified for the FA Cup's first round. He sacked himself following three defeats in a row which resulted in an internal dispute with his players regarding them giving up a week’s pay. In the end, Glenn Tamplin could no longer take the abuse directed at his family from supporters and eventually left the club in September, 2019.
