'Great news': PM Modi ecstatic as Indian football team set to take part in Asian Games
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his delight as Indian football team secured an approval to take part in the upcoming Asian Games in China.

Indian Football team's long-standing plea to participate in the Asian Games has finally been approved by the sports ministry and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi took the moment to express his delight at the latest development. Earlier, Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur confirmed that both the Indian Men's and Women's football teams will make the trip to Hangzhou and take part in the Asian Games. India have managed to breach the top 100 in the FIFA ranking recently.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi insisted India's participation in the Asian Games will encourage upcoming talent in the sport. PM Modi tweeted, "Great news for football fans across India! It will also encourage upcoming talent in this sport."

The India Men’s team are pitted alongside hosts China PR, Bangladesh, and Myanmar in Group A in the Asian Games while the Blue Tigresses are drawn with Chinese Taipei and Thailand in Group B.
