Inter Miami CF: David Beckham's team signs former Bundesliga striker Jerome Kiesewetter
David Beckham's Inter Miami have announced the signing of former Bundesliga striker Jerome Kiesewetter. He becomes the ninth player on the Inter Miami roster.
MLS newcomers Inter Miami CF have announced the signing of forward Jerome Kiesewetter. The 26-year-old German-American dual national has represented the U.S. men’s national teams in the under-18, U-20, U-23 and senior squads. Jerome Kiesewetter came up through German club Hertha Berlin's youth system and also played for Stuttgart and Fortune Dusseldorf during his time in Germany.
In a statement after Kiesewetter's signing, Inter Miami CF sporting director Paul McDonough said that Kiesewetter's signing brings speed, athleticism and experience to the Inter Miami squad. Jerome Kiesewetter becomes the ninth player on the Inter Miami roster as the MLS newcomers look to build a competitive side for their debut season. Kiesewetter is also the second forward on Inter Miami's roster, after they signed Julian Carranza from Argentine Primera Division side Banfield earlier this year.
David Beckham's Inter Miami looking to attract big names
With the signing of Jerome Kiesewetter, David Beckham's Inter Miami are well on their way to building a competitive squad for their inaugural season in the MLS. Thanks to David Beckham's star power, a number of big names have been rumoured to make the switch to the MLS in order to join up with David Beckham's team. Manchester City's David Silva is the name most strongly linked with Inter Miami. Paris Saint-Germain's Edinson Cavani as well as Galatasaray's ageing striker Radamel Falcao have also been rumoured to be targets. Moves for LaLiga superstars Luka Modric as well his Real Madrid teammate James Rodriguez have also not been ruled out.
The MLS newcomers already have a £750million stadium in the works, named the Miami Freedom Park, which will have a capacity of 25,000. However, while construction is ongoing at the Miami Freedom Park, Inter Miami will play their home games at the 18,000-seater Lockhart Stadium. Inter Miami will play their first home game against David Beckham's former side LA Galaxy on March 14 next year.
