ISL News: Chennaiyin FC 2019 transfer round-up, important updates

Chennaiyin FC failed to defend their title during ISL 2018-19 and finished last in the group stage. The Chennai-based franchise won just two matches, drew two and lost a mammoth 13 games last time out. There will be immense pressure on Chennaiyin FC coach John Gregory to turn things around ahead of the start of ISL 2019-20. Chennaiyin FC hope to put behind ISL 2018-19 disappointment

John Gregory-led Chennaiyin FC were crowned ISL champions in 2015 and 2017 but ended season ISL 2018-19 with only nine points from 18 games. Ahead of the start of ISL 2019-20, the Chennaiyin management have brought in some much-needed defensive reinforcements in the form of Mumbai City FC’s Lucian Goain, Afghanistan's Masih Saighani and promising I-League 2019 winner - Edwin Vanspaul from Chennai City FC. The two-time ISL champions have also brought in the likes of Andre Schembri, Dragos Firtulescu, Rafael Crivellaro and Nerijus Valskis. The addition of the exciting Lallianzuala Chhangte, who was on trial with Norwegian club Viking FK will provide John Gregory with a host of attacking options over the course of ISL 2019-20.
