August Rush actor Jonathan Rhys Meyers will probably be attending the opening ceremony of the IFFI (International Film Festival of India) golden jubilee event. According to reports, Film Critic Taran Adharsh shared a picture of the Bend it like Beckham star on social media platform Instagram giving a caption that International star Jonathan Rhys Meyers known for his roles in Bend It Like Beckham and Men In Black 3 to attend the opening ceremony of the 50th edition of IFFI".
A platform to celebrate social and cultural ethos
Taran also said that Brazilian journalist and filmmaker, Wagner Moura, are in talks to attend the film festival that will be conducted from November 20 to 28 in Goa. The film festival will witness 200 foreign movies that will be screened during the festival. The event will also have 24 films featuring, who is in the race for the prestigious Oscar nominations. The IFFI will also screen 50 films made by 50 different women directors.
Current Goa Chief Minister said that a short film will also be screened at the festival that will be dedicated and honor late Goa Chief MInister Manohar Parikar who recently died from Pancreatic cancer.
Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar stated that French Actor Isabelle Hupert will be honored with a Lifetime Achievement award at the film festival. South Indian megastar Rajnikanth will be honored with the Icon Of Golden Jubilee Award for his outstanding contribution to the Indian Cinema.
The International Film Festival of India
The IFFI was founded in the year 1952 and is considered to be one of the major film festivals in Asia. It is a yearly event and the current edition will be held in Goa and it will aim to provide a common platform for the cinematic fraternities from different parts of the world to show their works in the context of their social and cultural spirit of the cinematic world. The film festival will jointly be conducted by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of Goa, and Directorate of Film Festivals.
