Kylian Mbappe not to be bought by Liverpool in January: Jurgen Klopp
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has laid to rest all rumours linking PSG striker Kylian Mbappe with the Reds claiming that it is not possible to sign the player.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has denied rumours linking Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe to the Reds. Klopp has stated to the media that buying a player like Mbappe is virtually out of reach for almost all European clubs. Mbappe was subject to transfer rumours two years back when Klopp had met the family members of the France international in an attempt to convince him to sign for Liverpool. However, the World Cup winner preferred to stay in France and joined PSG on loan before a £160m permanent transfer.
Anfield is a desired destination for players
Klopp has claimed that Liverpool’s recent form and their status as European Champions has made Anfield a desired destination for the game’s leading players. Klopp also admits that there are no sporting reasons not to want Mbappe, but purely the price of the player in the transfer market.
Liverpool’s rumoured interest in the star, their pending kit deal with Nike, which also sponsors the PSG striker, and a lack of signings in the summer have all fueled rumours of chances of Liverpool bidding for the player. Liverpool fans also took to Twitter to express their dream of seeing the player at the Anfield with the #Mbappe2020 social media campaign.
Klopp believes that the club is in a very good position. Image-wise, maybe it always was, but now, he thinks it is easier to live the life of a Liverpool stakeholder and that means automatically being in a situation to sign the players that they want to sign. The World Cup winner has been frequently linked with a move to Real Madrid since his transfer to PSG. Former Monaco vice-president Vadim Vasilyev had said to the media that he believes Mbappe will move to the Bernabeu eventually and fulfil his dream of playing for Los Blancos. On the other hand, PSG sporting director Leonardo responded angrily after Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane spoke about Mbappe’s childhood dream to play for the Spanish giants.
