LaLiga: Zinedine Zidane brushes off Gareth Bale transfer rumours
Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has rubbished off rumours linking Gareth Bale with a move away from the Bernabeu in the January 2020 transfer window.
Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has brushed off rumours circulating as per British media reports relating to Welsh winger Gareth Bale’s possible move away from the Santiago Bernabeu in the upcoming winter transfer window in January 2020.
Bale has been linked with a move to China
Real Madrid and Welsh forward Bale was heavily linked with a summer move to the lucrative Chinese Super League amid rumours of a breakdown in his relationship with manager Zidane. The 30-year-old has not played for the Los Blancos in the past month but created a controversy after he was called up by Wales manager Ryan Giggs for the decisive Euro 2020 qualifiers against Azerbaijan and Hungary. Bale was not included in the squad and will once again be absent when Real Madrid host Galatasaray in the Champions League on Thursday because of a reported calf injury.
Zidane reportedly wants the Welshman to remain in the Spanish capital until the end of the season and also feels that the fans should not question the former Tottenham man's desire to return to fitness. Since starting in the club’s 4-2 win over Granada on October 5, Bale has played only for his country during qualifiers against Slovakia and Croatia. He had been left out since the last four matches. The player even attracted criticism from fans for leaving matches early. However, his manager again talked down concerns about Bale's commitment.
Despite Bale's recent lack of action and controversy surrounding his travel to England as well as doubts over his physical condition, Zidane believes that he is powerless to prevent the player from joining up with Wales. The former Tottenham winger reportedly used the trip to England to meet with his agent, Jonathan Barnett, as rumours surrounding his future started to re-circulate. Bale almost left Madrid for China in the previous summer due to his strained relationship with Zidane, but the Frenchman claimed that the pair are on good terms.
