Leicester City defender Ben Chilwell tweets hilarious Joker comparison
Leicester City's Ben Chilwell tweeted a comparison of teammate Caglar Soyuncu resembling the Joaquin Phoenix's Joker. Soyuncu joined the Foxes last year.
Leicester City are in the middle of a purple patch this Premier League season. Having seen Harry Maguire depart for Manchester United in the summer, the Foxes opted to strengthen the other areas of the pitch, instead of defence. With a net spend of £11m in the summer transfer window, Leicester City opted to leave Harry Maguire's place vacant. The reason? Turkish centre-back who goes by the name of Caglar Soyuncu.
Soyuncu signed for Leicester City for a reported fee of £19m from SC Freiburg. However, the 23-year old Turk has just now started to come to the fore for Leicester City. Soyuncu was a rock in Leicester City's defence as they registered a clean sheet during the Foxes' 2-0 win over Arsenal on Matchday 12 of the Premier League. His efforts have not gone unnoticed in Leicester City's defence. However, Leicester left-back Ben Chilwell decided to take an alternate route in praising the burly Turk.
Ben Chilwell's Joker comparison
Ben Chilwell tweeted a picture of a comparison of Joaquin Phoenix's Joker and his team-mate Caglar Soyuncu in training to showcase the similarities between the two. While the young Turk didn't respond to Chilwell's tweet, the comparison between the two was there for all to see. Earlier, James Maddison also tweeted a picture of Soyuncu hoisting the English playmaker with his hands, saying that Soyunci made him feel like Simba from the Lion King.
Caglar Soyuncu has been impressive in the heart of Leicester City's defence this season. The Turkish centre-back has formed a steely defensive partnership with Jonny Evans to constitute a defence that has conceded the least number of goals in the Premier League this season. With a watertight defence and an attack that has scored the second-highest number of goals this season, Leicester City find themselves second on the Premier League table, eight points behind league leaders Liverpool.
