Lionel Messi models for Argentina's new away kit launched by Adidas

Lionel Messi will be back with Argentina's squad after three months and has celebrated it in style by modeling for Adidas' launch of their new away shirt

After months of leaks and rumours, Adidas has finally released Argentina's away kit for the 2020 season which has been modelled by none other than their returning captain and Barcelona star Lionel Messi.

Lionel Messi and co prepare for Copa America 2020

Argentina and Colombia will jointly host the Copa America in 2020, with both teams looking to end their international trophy drought. Lionel Messi and company will be motivated especially, given their recent record in the competition. And now, Adidas has officially revealed what they will don as they challenge for the continental trophy. 

The away kit in all its glory

The Albiceleste will be donning a dark blue away shirt with a pattern during their ‘away’ matches. Argentina's away kit for the 2020 season, which they will also wear during the Copa America, will feature a unique shade of blue, along with a pattern across the front and back. Light blue stripes on the shoulders and on the cuffs will complete the look. The shorts and socks are expected to be similar in colour. It will no doubt be one of the most beautiful away kits on the show next summer and Lionel Messi looked very good modelling it.

Lionel Messi: New strip, new fortunes?

Argentina made it all the way to the final of the 2015 and 2016 Copa America, only to lose to Chile on both occasions. Their most recent campaign in 2019 ended with them finishing third in the competition, beating rivals Chile for the same as Brazil eventually lifted the trophy.

Lionel Messi will return to play for Argentina after serving a three-month ban imposed by CONMEBOL for his corruption allegations and will be part of the squad that will travel to Saudi Arabia for their friendlies against Brazil and Uruguay in November. Messi will be hoping for a change of luck on their own grounds, after suffering heartache in the last three editions.
