Manchester United are reportedly eyeing a £70 million move for Premier League star Wilfried Zaha. The Crystal Palace striker had earlier played for the Old Trafford side when he was signed by Alex Ferguson in 2013, but could not succeed there. The Ivory Coast international fell out of favour with Ferguson's successor David Moyes, having made just four appearances for the club before he was loaned out to Palace for the remainder of the 2014-15 season.
Zaha has established himself at Palace
After a string of impressive performances for Palace, the club signed him for a reported fee of £6 million. Zaha has become increasingly important at Palace and has now made more than 300 appearances for the Eagles. The winger has now established himself as one of Premier League’s best attackers.
United believe that a mature and wiser Zaha, 26, could prove to be a success this time and that they would be prepared to pay the high fee that Palace would demand if they allow him to leave Selhurst Park. However, Zaha is having a bad campaign, as he is yet to score a goal for Palace. He has, however, provided two assists for the team, who are currently placed 10th in the Premier League, without a win in four matches. Zaha was in the news last summer after he had asked the club to let him go, with Arsenal as the front-runners to land him at the Emirates. However, the deal fell through as Unai Emery decided to sign Nicolas Pepe instead.
United are linked to a host of players for the upcoming transfer window, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer eyeing Erling Haaland and Memphis Depay. United are having a not-so-good season according to expectations and Ole looks to re-energise his attacking section due to the club's over-reliance on Marcus Rashford. It is therefore believed that signing of Zaha might prove beneficial for Ole.
