MLS: Toronto FC road to final
Toronto FC ended their Eastern conference group stage at number four, five points behind Philadelphia Union. They faced DC United in the first playoff game and won by a 5-1 margin against Wayne Rooney and Co. Next up, was New York City FC in the next round. A brace from Alejandro Pozuelo was enough to seal Toronto's place in the Eastern Conference final against defending champions - Atlanta United. Nick DeLeon was the hero last night alongside goalkeeper Quentin Westberg who also saved a penalty from Atlanta striker Josef Martinez.
Back in 2016, Seattle beat Toronto on penalties by 5-4. The Canadian franchise then defeated Seattle 2-0 a year later. Each team has won one MLS Cup. One of them will join a long list of current MLS clubs that have won multiple titles in the LA Galaxy (five), D.C. United (four), Houston Dynamo (two), Sporting Kansas City (two) and San Jose Earthquakes (two).
