Orlando City and New York City split the points in a 1-1 draw in Orlando on Saturday, that saw the hosts reduced to 10 men after an ugly clash.

Late in the second half Ruan and Gary Mackay-Steven both went to ground in a fairly innocuous challenge for the ball near the sideline.

However, Ruan objected to Mackay-Steven pushing his abdomen when getting up and retaliated by kicking the Scot in the groin.

Players, officials and support staff from both sides immediately joined the pair as Orlando appealed against what would eventually become a red card.

Earlier, Nani gave the hosts the lead in the fifth minute after scoring from the spot, but Maxime Chanot levelled three minutes later from a corner.
