Paul Pogba 'gutted' as Manchester United lose 1-0 to Bournemouth
Manchester United midfielder, Paul Pogba, said that he was devastated as he saw his team succumb to a very narrow 1-0 defeat at Bournemouth on November 2
Manchester United midfielder, Paul Pogba, has said that he was devastated as he saw his team succumb to a 1-0 defeat at Bournemouth on November 2. He further added that to see the team lose without being able to play is the worst feeling. Pogba also said that he is waiting to recover from his ankle injury to help his team win matches but the most important thing for him at the present was to completely heal. Pogba has not featured for the Red Devils since the 1-1 draw against Southampton on August 31.
An end to United's three-match winning streak
United's three-match winning streak in all competitions was ended by the Cherries after forward, Joshua King, netted a goal past David d Gea in the 45th minute. Manchester United showcased a sloppy performance with a loose defence and the closest they came to equalising to salvage a point was when substitute, Mason Greenwood, hit the post late in the second half of the game.
'A setback'
Meanwhile, United's Norweigian manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, acknowledged the fact that the 1-0 defeat was a setback for his team. Manchester United fell to a lowly 10th position in the Premier League and just 6 points above the relegation zone. Ole said that in order to climb up to the fourth position, these are the games that need to be won. He also stated that it was a lesson to learn from and get back up to win their next couple of matches.
Solskjaer also said that one does not get a very good feeling after losing an important match as they were hoping to grab the three points considering their form in the past three matches. He said that the Red Devils failed to capitalise on the good start and Bournemouth grabbed that chance and scored a wonderful goal. While talking to a local media outlet, Ole also talked about how he thought that forwards Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial defended well against Eddie Howe's team but failed to grab those three points.
'A disappointing feeling'
He also said that it was a disappointing thing when you come to places like these and fail to win and have to take control of the game instead of having control since the very beginning of the match. Ole also said that his team was missing quality during certain parts of the game and was of the opinion that should have had different players in the playing Xl.
'Home-grown'
Manchester United midfielder, Scott Mctominay, has become a crucial part of the team's midfield. The Scottish player has showcased a lot of convincing displays in the past few matches. He showed his worth during the 2-1 Carabao Cup win against Chelsea on October 30. Scott also booked himself a yellow card as he rammed into Mateo Kovacic as his towering presence helped him recover the ball from the Chelsea player. He dominated the midfield, used the breaks to instruct his fellow teammates as United cranked up the pressure on Frank Lampard's Chelsea.
Manchester United next play against Partizan in their UEFA Europa League, Group L encounter on November 8 at Old Trafford. United is perched at the top of Group L with a two-point advantage over second-placed AZ Alkmaar.
