Even after being handed a 2-0 defeat at the hands of premier league rivals, Wolves, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola stated that his defending champions have a lot of games to determine their fate and show their capability in the 2019-20 season.

'There are a lot of games to go'

While speaking to a local news outlet, Pep stated that they lost against a team that had come well prepared and was organized in a way that helped them breach their defense and defeat them with a 2 goal lead.

He added that his players were capable enough to carry the team forward and win their upcoming matches despite recording a disappointing performance in two of their premier league matches.

He said that his team did not play with the same intensity but it was a small blip that would not occur again. Guardiola also stated that he is well aware of the gap between Manchester City and Liverpool since the reds have not dropped a single point this season. But that did not define this year's premier league champions as there are still a lot of games and competitions to be played in.

Manchester City's patchy defense

The defending premier league champions lost to Wolves with winger Adama Traoré scoring a brace in the 80th minute and the second goal coming in as an injury-time winner as City's defense proved to be a liability and cost them 3 points. This was Mancher City's second home defeat since losing 3-2 to Crystal Palace in the 2018-19 season. With the pressure mounting on every team as the league progresses, second-placed City has a huge job to cut the 8 point deficit against table toppers, Liverpool.
