Premier League, Liverpool vs Tottenham: Player ratings and highlights

As Liverpool hosted Tottenham for their tenth game of the Premier League in the 2019-20 season, Jurgen Klopp's style of heavy metal football was on full display at Anfield. The visitors took the lead as early as the first minute when Heung-Ming Son's effort deflected off Liverpool center-back Dejan Lovren. Tottenham captain Harry Kane however, was in the right place at the right time. The England international showed some razor-sharp reflexes to head in the first goal of the game. The visiting side was 1-0 up n the first minute of the game.

Liverpool vs Tottenham highlights

Liverpool have been known to be ruthless at Anfield. Jurgen Klopp's men usually steamroller through their opposition in the first half, with their fullback duo off Andrew Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold usually providing the impetus. It wasn't much different this time around. Robertson and Alexander-Arnold bombed up and down the flanks to set up Liverpool's front three. But Tottenham's backup goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga was on fine form on the night. 

Gazzaniga's stellar display meant that Tottenham took their one-goal lead into half time. But you can never rule out Liverpool at Anfield. The Reds came storming off the blocks in the second half as Jordan Henderson struck to equalise for Liverpool. Roberto Firmino, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold were all guilty of missing chances in the game, as a Mohamed Salah penalty saw Liverpool through in the fixture. With Liverpool having already played the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal, Man United, Leicester City, and Tottenham in their first 10 games, the ball will be in Man City's court as the Citizens are yet to be fully tested against the top six this season.
