Alassane Plea scored in the first minute of the match - which was played behind closed doors - and Marcus Thurman gave the visitors a 2-0 lead inside eight minutes.
Ramy Bensebaini put Monchengladbach further ahead with a second half penalty before Andre Silva notched a consolation goal for Eintracht.
Victory lifted the 'Foals' above RB Leipzig and into third place in the Bundesliga standings.
