Real Madrid's Federico Valverde reveals Arsene Wenger failed to sign him for Arsenal
Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde has revealed to the media that Arsene Wenger failed to sign him, during his stint at Arsenal a few years back
Real Madrid and Uruguay midfielder Federico Valverde revealed on Friday that former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger failed to sign him a few years back according to British media reports. The 21-year-old midfielder has been quite impressive this season, with Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane putting his faith in the player. Zidane has given enough game time to Valverde, and the player has not failed to deliver.
Federico Valverde has become an integral part of Real Madrid
He has become an integral part of Zidane’s starting XI. He was earlier loaned to Deportiva La Coruna and has featured in many of Los Blancos' best performances so far this season. He has successfully filled up the void in the midfield, created by Ballon D’Or winner Luka Modric’s injury, and is largely considered as the Croatian’s natural successor. He was brought to the Bernabeu at a meagre amount of £4.5 million.

He told the media that Arsenal asked about him when he was with Penarol and he had even travelled to practice with them. Sharing training with Alexis Sanchez and the fact that Sanchez came to help him with the language was something very nice according to Valverde. Toni Kroos, his Real Madrid teammate, while talking to the media, has openly backed the youngster. The German stated that Valverde has been amazing and is in great form. And when he speaks about Rodrygo and says that he is very clear, he also thinks that Valverde has been doing this since the first day. On Valverde’s passion to succeed at Real Madrid, Kroos stated that he is fighting and helping a lot in defence. He is not losing balls, he is very good on the ball and that he really loves this player.
Kroos commended the player’s technique saying that to play at Real Madrid is not easy and to play like that, at this age, means he has a lot of quality and that he was pretty sure that he will have a great future at Madrid. After the recent revelation, Arsenal fans would have realised that the club missed out on a great talent.
