Roger Federer opens up about his rivalry with Nadal and Djokovic
Roger Federer has revealed in an interview that he will not be extending his career just to stop Nadal and Djokovic from beating his Grand Slam record.
Tennis star Roger Federer has revealed in an interview that he will not be extending his career just to stop Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic from beating his Grand Slam record. Roger Federer currently leads the all-time list of 20 Major tournaments but as far as this year is concerned, Nadal and Djokovic have added two titles to their total which means that Nadal has 19 Grand slams, one behind Federer and four ahead of Djokovic, who is on 16.
Federer opens up
In an interview, Federer was posed a question, if it was a motivation for him that Nadal and Djokovic will break his record. To which the Swiss tennis player said that he guessed that it is a little bit of motivation but not a reason why is he on tour. Federer said that he trying to achieve as much he can. He said that it will be cool if he manages 100 overall titles in Dubai this year but that will be something extraordinary for him. He said that while every record is there to be broken, what Nadal and Djokovic have done is crazy and that they will achieve more.
He said that he is not on the tour to try and stretch his lead but if he is on the tour, he will definitely try and win more Grand Slams, other titles and have a good time.
On rivalry with Novak and Rafa
In the interview, Roger reportedly said that there is a new generation trying to knock the door but then one has to keep them at bay, due to which a lot is going on. He says that he enjoys his rivalry with Novak and Rafa and other adding that Murray is back too. He concluded by saying that all of them (tennis players) have many great stories to tell in tennis and so many highlights to look forward too.
