Manchester United midfielder, Scott Mctominay, has become a crucial part of the team's midfield as the Scottish player has showcased a lot of convincing displays in the past few matches. He showed his worth during the 2-1 Carabao Cup win against Chelsea on October 30. Scott also booked himself a yellow card as he rammed into Mateo Kovacic as his towering presence helped him recover the ball from the Chelsea player. He dominated the midfield, used the breaks to instruct his fellow teammates as United cranked up the pressure on Frank Lampard's Chelsea.
A pillar for Manchester United
Every few minutes he proved to be a brick wall for the Chelsea attack as he smartly positioned himself in the midfield, making it difficult for them to cross the midfield and cause trouble for United's defense. He made the most tackles and interceptions as compared to his teammates in the round of 16 matches. Scott also made the most ball recoveries or contested more one on one duel during the match without risking a second yellow card
His performances justified the reason as to why former manager, Jose Mourinho, regarded him as a very valuable and a skilled player and it is very obvious that Ole thinks of the midfielder in the same way. Since the start of the 2019-20 season, McTominay has played a total of 887 minutes in the league.
Mctominay commanded the United midfield in the absence of Paul Pogba as he made a forward pass during a Chelsea attack and then sliding down a pass on the right flank to Daniel James on the break.
One for the club
His maturity and intelligence as a player have made it evident that he putting his heart and soul into the game and is playing for the crest on the Manchester United shirt. He is one player who stays calm and composed when his team needs to bring it down a notch in any match, by putting his body between the incoming players to win fouls and free kicks.
Scott Mctominay has been a Manchester United player from the start, joining the club academy at the age of 9 and earning his place in the first team through pure talent. After the Red Devils won the match against Chelsea, McTominay's celebrations at Stamford Bridge showed how much the team and the club mattered to him.
Marcus Rashford's Penalty in the 25th minute helped United gain a 1 goal lead before Chelsea striker, Michy Batshuayi, equalized for Chelsea in the 61st minute but it was the young England International's 73rd minute free-kick that sealed the deal for Manchester United that ended Chelsea's seven-match winning streak and registering a third successive win for Manchester United.
