Serge Gnabry equals Gerd Muller's record after Germany hat-trick

Germany and Bayern Munich winger Serge Gnabry equalled Gerd Muller's record of 13 international goals in a year, after his hat-trick against Northern Ireland.

Bayern Munich's German star Serge Gnabry was on target in the match between Germany and Northern Ireland in the Euro 2020 qualifier, as the player scored a stunning hat-trick in the game. The Germans defeated their opponents 6-1. The former Arsenal player has been phenomenal this season for both club and country. Serge Gnabry has also registered some records to his credit. Gnabry equalled Gerd Muller’s international record in which the legend had scored 13 goals in 13 matches, which proves just how good the youngster has been this season.

Serge Gnabry's recent performances

Serge Gnabry has been in impressive form this season. Some memorable performances from the player this term include scoring four goals against Tottenham Hotspur in an astonishing 7-2 UEFA Champions League win for Bayern recently. He also impressed against Argentina for Germany in October 2019, scoring one and assisting Kai Havertz for another in a 2-2 draw, apart from the recent hat-trick in the Euro 2020 qualifiers.

The recent hat-trick means that the 24-year-old has now scored nine goals in seven games for Germany in 2019, more than any other player in Joachim Low’s squad. Germany manager Low was short of words for his player and commented that he can hold the ball up, run into space, score himself or set others up and that he has developed unbelievably. The player was voted as Bayern’s Player of the Season in his debut season with the Bavarians in 2018-19, beating players like Robert Lewandowski, Thomas Muller and Joshua Kimmich to the accolade, courtesy of six assists and 13 goals in 42 matches. He also won the Bundesliga Player of the Month award for October 2019.
