A stoppage-time penalty from Cristiano Ronaldo secured a 2-1 win for Juventus against 17th-placed Genoa. Juventus, who were sporting their alternate kit for the first time this season, took the lead after 36 minutes. A corner from Rodrigo Bentancur found Juventus' seasoned centre-back Leonardo Bonucci, who got in front of Genoa goalkeeper Ionut Radu to cushion a header into the near post.

Within five minutes of the first goal, Genoa levelled. Full-back Alex Sandro lost the ball near the edge of the penalty area and was duly punished for his error. The ball made its way to Christian Kouame, who appeared to fluff his lines, but the ball hit his standing leg and went past the wrong-footed Gianluigi Buffon. Kouame's leveller meant that Genoa held on till the half-time whistle.

The second half was when drama ensued. Genoa's Francesco Cassata was sent off for a second yellow after he appeared to foul Paulo Dybala as the Argentine attempted to squeeze between two defenders. Six minutes later, Genoa were brought down to nine men when Federico Marchetti was sent off for the visitors. Juventus' Adrien Rabiot was sent off for a rash challenge with three minutes of regular time left. With both sides facing casualties, and the score tied at 1-1, the final few minutes were bound to be a tense period for both, the hosts and the visitors. In the third minute of stoppage-time, Cristiano Ronaldo appeared to score off a Juan Cuadrado assist, but the goal was chalked off for offside by VAR. Ronaldo then took it upon himself to win and then convert a penalty to hand Juventus their eighth win in Seria A. Here are the player ratings from the game.
