Sir Alex Ferguson erupts in celebration after horse racing win

The Badger Beers Silver Trophy at Wincanton provided a special victory for Sir Alex Ferguson. Manchester United's legendary former manager was out celebrating this weekend, and it was not because of Man United's 3-1 win over Brighton. Before United would go on to register their fourth win in the Premier League, Sir Alex Ferguson was rejoicing at the Wincanton racecourse.

Sir Alex Ferguson, who dominated the Premier League during his time with Manchester United was pictured celebrating at the racecourse as his horse 'Give Me A Copper' raced to a win at Wincanton to secure the Badger Beers Silver Trophy. Ferguson's horse, 'Give Me A Copper', was second-favourite to win the race. Give Me A Copper was backed 5-1 for the win and won the race donning the famous red of Manchester United.

It was clear that Manchester United's recent form had no effect on Fergusons' chestnut horse, Give Me A Copper. The horse fended off a late charge from race-favourite Soupy Soups to win the race. Ferguson, who is part-owner of the horse, was attending his first race at Wincanton, despite being a racing fan who has been retired for a little over six years.

Speaking after Give Me A Copper's win, the Manchester United legend went on to say that a win like the one on the weekend, and the excitement at the end of the race cannot be beaten. Ferguson also went on to say that Give Me A Copper's trainer Paul Nicholls likened the chestnut horse to one of his football players, considering that the horse had a few niggles to battle early on. Give Me A Copper's win could see Sir Alex Ferguson celebrating once again next year, as his horse is now considered a genuine contender for the Grand National in April.
