Spanish Super Cup: More about the news
The president of the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), Luis Rubiales, informed that the said prize money was initially agreed by Anil Murthy (Valencia's president) himself during a dinner in Mallorca. Rubiales stated in an interview that it is strange to receive complaints from Anil Murthy when he himself asked for €1.5 million to participate in the competition over the dinner. Luis further explained the break down of the prize money and said that it is broken down in three parts. The first ( €800k) is awarded for participating in the tournament. The second is determined by how well teams do in the tournament. The third is determined by previous honours won by the club, in which Valencia will earn €1.7 million compared to Real Madrid's €6 million.
