Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold marks a Guinness World Record

Liverpool's wonderkid Trent Alexander-Arnold is currently on cloud nine after bagging yet another honour in a year to remember for the 21-year old. The right-back was included in the Guinness World Record for marking the most English Premier League assists by a defender in a single season (12). 2018-19 was a season to remember for Alexander-Arnold as he played a vital role in Liverpool's Champions League triumph. Premier League: Alexander-Arnold's world record
Trent Alexander-Arnold was included in the UEFA Champions League team of the season along with some of the greats. He was also named in the PFA Team of the season for his contribution in Liverpool's season-long competition with Manchester City for the title chase. Alexander- Arnold had a total of 16 assists in all competition in the 2018-19 season. The Guinness World Record will mean more to the Liverpool supporters as Alexander-Arnold has clinched the record from two former Everton players - Andy Hinchcliffe (1994/95) and Leighton Baines (2010/11), who had a joint record of 11 assists each.

Alexander-Arnold in an interview said that It was an honour to be in the Guinness World Records and he always wished to go forward and help Liverpool to create as many chances as possible. He stated that it's up to the forwards to put the ball into the back of the net because football is a team game and without the strikers, this record wouldn’t have been possible for him. An overwhelmed Alexander-Arnold went ahead and said that It’s an unbelievably proud moment for him and his family, and something he hopes will stand for a few years.
Alexander-Arnold also gave credit to his Liverpool full-back partner Andy Robertson for encouraging him to set the record. Alexander-Arnold and Robertson had complete control on the right and left flanks for Liverpool last season and they accumulated a total of 29 assists in all competitions for the Reds. Andy Robertson bagged an impressive 11 assists in the Premier League and two in the Champions League, which left Alexander-Arnold with the Guinness World Records title.
