Real Madrid finally bagged a win in their Champions League 2019-20 campaign. Before the start of Matchday 3, Real Madrid were in the last spot of Group A table with a loss and a draw. However, they travelled to the Türk Telekom Stadium to play Galatasaray and returned with a much needed three points to their name. The win saw Real Madrid shifting to the second spot and the home-side moved to the fourth position.

Toni Kroos scored the only goal of the match in the 18th minute of the first half. However, Galatasaray troubled the visitors frequently with many shots on targets. Madrid keeper Thibaut Courtois made some heroic saves to deny the Turkey-based team strikers which helped the visitors to seal the win. Zinedine Zidane made some changes to his starting XI with 19-year-old Rodrygo making his first start for the Los Blancos in the Champions League. Luka Modric and Gareth Bale were missing from the squad due to injuries and James Rodríguez and Isco were placed on the bench. Although Real Madrid were on the winning side at the end of the match, Zidane has many points to note about the team performance, as they looked very unorganised.
