FC Bayern Munich had a smooth start to their UEFA Champions League (UCL) 2019-20 campaign as they snatched a comfortable 3-0 victory against Crvena Zvezda in the Group B opener at the Allianz Arena. They were eliminated in the round of 16 by Liverpool last season. The visitors, Crvena Zvezda, are meeting the German giants for the sixth time in the Champions League. Both these teams are placed in the same group for the second consecutive year.
Goal saga
Kingsley Coman started the goal saga for the Bundesliga club, converting a cross into a header in the 34th minute before Robert Lewandowski scored the second goal in the 80th minute, snatching the ball from the visitor team’s goalkeeper. Thomas Muller made the scoreline 3-0 in added time after Thiago Alcantara lined a free-kick up on the edge of the box. It was a one-sided affair as Bayern had 73 per cent possession of the ball, dominating their opponents throughout their UCL tie.

Two yellow cards were issued in the match, both for Crvena players — Milos Vulic and Milos Degenek. Bayern successfully completed a total of 784 passes while Crvena players did 295 passes.
With the end of the first round of group matches, Bayern top the group with three points while their opponent in the first match are placed bottom of the table. Meanwhile, Tottenham and Olympiacos are the other two teams from the same group. On 2nd October, Bayern will visit Tottenham for their second clash while Crvena will be hosting Olympiacos on the same day in the Champions League.
