'Women's Hockey team a well-settled unit': Vice Captain Savita
The Indian Women's Hockey team Vice Captain has claimed that the team is a “well-settled unit” and every member of the team understands each other's game well
The Indian Women Hockey team's Vice Captain has claimed that her side of the team is a “well-settled unit” and every member of the team understands each other. The match took place at the headquarters of the International Hockey Federation in Lausanne, Switzerland, between India and the US was a tie. The Indian team is set to play a five-match series against Great Britain from September 27 to October 4. The Indian goalkeeper, Savita, believes that the team will get to face a similar side in the US.
"Most of the players selected for our upcoming tour of England have played together as a unit for a long time now. We have a well-settled unit as we understand each other's game pretty well which will further help us against the USA at the Olympic qualifiers. It has been our aim to qualify for Tokyo after having qualified for Rio after a gap of 36 years. We are all very determined about succeeding in the qualifiers and the upcoming matches against Great Britain will be good preparation for that.” Savita said.

Savita also claimed that Great Britain and the USA have similar playing styles and the team is really pleased that it will be playing against Great Britain before the two big matches in November. She further added that the women's hockey team has been training for the past two weeks and she is confident that the team will be playing according to their strategy. The team has some experienced players and the ones who recently joined the team is full of talent and potential.
Savita also said, “When it comes to the goalkeeping options also, Rajani Etimarpu and I have been playing together in the team for a long time now, and we support each other with our game. We are really close to each other as well, and it also helps when she gives me inputs, and I do the same for her when she is playing.”
Both the goalkeepers enjoy each others success and believe that it is important in a team sport to support each other. Hopefully, the team will qualify for the Tokyo Olympics 2020 later this year. The 18 member team includes Rani (Captain), Savita (Vice Captain), Rajani Etimarpu, Deep Grace Ekka, Gurjit Kaur, Reena Khokhar, Salima Tete, Sushila Chanu Pukhrambam, Nikki Pradhan, Monika, Neha Goyal, Lolima Minz, Namita Toppo, Vandana Katariya, Navneet Kaur, Lalremsiami, Navjot Kaur, and Sharmila Devi.
