On the inaugural day of the Asian Games 2023, India concluded their efforts with a total of five medals - three silver and two bronze. The women's 10m air rifle team, comprising Ashi Chouksey, Mehuli Ghosh, and Ramita, secured India's first medal of the Hangzhou 2023 Games, clinching a silver in the shooting event. Additionally, Ramita added to her medal tally by earning a bronze in the individual competition.
In the sport of rowing, both the men's lightweight double sculls and men's eight teams delivered impressive performances, securing silver medals, while the men's pair secured a bronze. Furthermore, the Indian women's cricket team made it to the final and guaranteed at least a silver medal in their Asian Games debut.
