The Lakers couldn't have hoped for a better start from the towering power forward, as he donned the famous purple and gold colours for the first time. The six-time NBA All-Star dominated the pre-season match-up, scoring 23 points in the first quarter, before sitting out for the rest of the game. The acquisition of Davis is widely expected to make the Los Angeles Lakers, genuine title contenders this season. The Lakers will also be hoping that he links up well with LeBron to form an All-Star duo that few teams in the NBA can boast of.

Davis set to miss rest of Lakers' pre-season 

Davis emerged from the locker room after the game against the Brooklyn Nets in China with an ice pack taped to his hand. It is believed that the 26-year-old only has a Grade 1 sprain, while there is no ligament damage in his thumb. The Lakers are expected to know more, once they return to the United States and carry out some tests. Davis' injury comes at an ominous time for the Lakers, with the Los Angeles side already having DeMarcus Cousins and Kyle Kuzma on the treatment table. Davis has missed a minimum of seven games in each of his seven seasons. This will mean that the LA Lakers will have to be patient with their Chicago-born star.
