Dutee Chand elated after her selection in the Doha World Championship

Dutee Chand, an Indian Professional Sprinter, on Tuesday announced that she has been selected in the 25-member national team for the Doha World Championship

Indian Professional Sprinter, Dutee Chand on Tuesday announced that she has been selected to represent the country in the 25-member squad for Doha World Championship, which will take place on September 27.

Chand took to Twitter and expresses her delight-

'Problems will come and go' says Dutee Chand

The ace sprinter has been in commendable form, fueling her to win a Gold medal in the World University Games in Napoli earlier this year. Dutee Chand bagged the gold for her phenomenal 100m run in 11.32 seconds in the tournament. Notably, she also holds the 100m national record with 11.24 seconds.

Apart from her professional achievements, the 23-year-old had made news headlines at the beginning of the year after she revealed that was in a same-sex relationship. Speaking about the same she said-

“This is my personal matter. I am sure everything will be fine in a month or two. On the international level, there are several athletes (who are in a same-sex relationship). To live, everybody needs a partner who understands your heart. We like each other so we decided to live together. She gives me motivation for my sport. My focus on sports will be intact".

Adding to her statements she mentioned that the problem will come and go in the future, nobody can take guarantee that. But I think there won't be any problem. If it won't happen, I'll be able to focus more on my training. My focus is on Olympics 2020 (to be held in Tokyo). I am training to qualify and participate in the Olympics," she added.

Hima Das finds a spot in the Relay Squad

The World Under-20 400m champion, Hima Das is also slated to participate in the women and mixed 4x400m squad for the World Championships. However, the 19-year old injured herself in the Asian Games last year and her participation hinges on her recovery from the longstanding back injury

She will be monitored right till the eve of the relay events at the Doha World Championships starting later this month and the decision will be taken based on the feedback from sports medicine experts monitoring her.
