Formula One racing driver Max Verstappen said that Lewis Hamilton’s domination is ‘getting a bit boring’ and wants the younger generation to make it to the top. The Dutch racing driver, who finished 3rd in the United States Grand Prix followed by Charles Leclerc, lost the 2019 world championship to Ferrari driver Hamilton.

'Depends on team'

Verstappen said that Hamilton’s chance to reach legendary Michael Schumacher's record of seven titles depends on the team and not just on him. Ahead of the Brazilian Grand Prix, hosted in Sao Paulo, Verstappen opined that Mercedes build dominant cars which make them strong and they need to be beaten as a team. He also said that the Ferrari driver will stop at one point as he is getting older. Speculations are rife that Verstappen might replace or join Hamilton at Mercedes but the former denied it saying he was happy at Red Bull and he wants to win with Red Bull as he feels at home.

Taking jibes at each other

Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen have not been on best of terms and both have been taking potshots at each other. Recently, Hamiton suggested drivers give extra space to Verstappen after their car bumped early in the opening lap. The 34-year-old Ferrari driver said that he got torpedoed due to the on-track clash and added that smart drivers give Verstappen plenty of room because he’s a “magnet” for contact.

'Bit disrespectful'

The comment didn’t go down well with the Red Bull racer and said that Hamilton’s comment was ‘disrespectful’ and ‘silly’.

“I think I’m always a hard racer, but fair. I think it’s just not correct. But it’s easy to have a dig at someone. I don’t need to dig into other people in a press conference," said Verstappen.

"I think it’s a bit disrespectful, and I prefer to fight on track, which I love to do,” he added.

Hamilton reacted to Verstappen’s comment and said that he was just explaining the race scenario without any disrespect.
