Korea Open: Saina Nehwal crashes out from the tournament after round 1
Saina Nehwal was trailing 21-19, 18-21, 1-8 when she retired hurt. PV Sindhu was knocked out in the first round while Sai Praneeth retired hurt as well
After PV Sindhu’s exit from Korea Open, Saina Nehwal has now exited from the tournament as well after facing defeat in the first round. Saina Nehwal retired hurt from her match against local favorite Kim Ga Eun. Earlier in the day, world champion PV Sindhu was knocked out by American Beiwen Zhang in the opening round. Sindhu couldn't find a way past Beiwen Zhang and lost the match 21-7, 22-24, 15-21.
Korea Open: Saina Nehwal crashes out
Saina Nehwal had won the opening game 21-19 but lost the second 18-21 against the South Korean, who was ahead 8-1 in the final game. Nehwal had a 2-0 head-to-head record against Kim before this match. Saina Nehwal was trailing 21-19, 18-21, 1-8 in the match when she retired hurt. Parupalli Kashyap, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty are the only Indians left in the tournament now after Sourabh Verma's first-round match against Hong Kong's Wing Ki Vincent Wong got cancelled.
Kashyap eased into the second round after beating Lu Chia Hung of Taiwan 21-16, 21-16 while Manu Attri and B. Sumeeth Reddy lost their men's doubles opening match against Huang Kai Xiang and Liu Cheng 16-21, 21-19, 18-21. The fans showed support while some of them weren’t happy with these results.
